CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND TRAINING
Field research, conducted since 1996 across Madagascar in linguistics, sociolinguistics, anthropology and other related domains produces strong arguments for merging disciplines in social research, for longitudinal studies and for a contextual view of the language and social ecologies of societies.
Since 2001 workshops for training mother-tongue speakers of minority languages in translation principles have been held at least twice a year.
'Discover Your Language' workshops have been held in a number of local communities, as a precursor to further language research and translation projects.
Research is ongoing, and new research documentation will be added periodically.
PUBLICATIONS
OCDIAS aims to participate in further research both through new research projects and through longitudinal studies of relevant previous research in the social domain.
Documentation and publication are encouraged as a way to exchange knowledge and to involve national and foreign students and academics in collaboration networks.
Academic collaborations hold great potential for development and growth across the Austronesian region, helping to build corporate and individual capacity, and thereby enlarging the Community of Practice in this field.
